Dawn Gillas4 StarIt's an amazing tree but it's on private property with signs so you can't get right up under it without permission. But, you have to know someone living in the neighborhood to get permission.Tuesday 22nd April 2025
Shannon Hampshire4 StarThe tree is in a private yard. There are signs saying private property. Very interesting that it's a tourist attraction. Definitely be respectful of the owners.Monday 10th November 2025
Travis Fuhrman5 StarAn impromptu stop in a neighborhood aptly called “Majestic Oaks”. I was not aware of the stipulations as stated in other reviews about HOA requirements or “invite only” so I can only blame ignorance for my photo ops. The tree is quite the spectacle to see and the camera truly does not capture the enormity of its’ grandeur. Not a whole lot of literature online other then it is over 300 years old. It’s species is Southern Live Oak which has other common names one of which is Majestic Oak. It is maintained by an Association and last stats reported were done in July of 2009. Circumference, which was done 4 feet from the ground is 27’ 8” and longest branch distance tip to tip is 165’ 7”.Sunday 17th October 2021
brad ayonon5 StarAnother beautiful specimen that seems to be the theme of our attractions in south Georgia and into Florida. We were lucky enough to talk with one of the sweetest people we have ever met, with a ton of knowledge on the history of Oglethorpe and this almost 300 year old oak. It is quite easy to find and totally worth the stop for those conscientious enough to pay homage to the neighborhood it resides in. Maybe you will be lucky enough to meet another beautiful soul like we did along your journey, Thank You Everett!Friday 18th February 2022
Lynette Huston5 StarIt’s a really pretty big oak tree. Signs are liberally posted to make sure you don’t actually get too close, since it’s private property. You can drive past and take a photo from the street, though.Tuesday 30th November 2021
