Horrible, horrible company. I purchased a new investment property and filled in all the information to add another account to my current account. I received the email confirmation two weeks ago that it would take two business days to complete. I receive no other email phone call or text and today they decided to come out and shut off the power 430 Friday night before a holiday weekend.. I called the emergency number and they told me there's nothing they can do and we will have to wait until Tuesday morning!! that means three days without electricity air-conditioning and all of the food in the refrigerator will be rotten. What a horrible company that doesn't care to fix the problem.. The only problem is, there's not much of a choice when you get to get your power. I will be filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau and government agencies.

Bill went from $120 to $450; usage didnt change much, power outage just to be out. My account is still acruing usage while my power is out so I'm being charged while having no power. There's no storm or power line down just cut the power off and their customer service is the most useless I've ever experienced.

It’s impossible to get in touch with a customer service rep, and even if you do, they’re exceptionally unhelpful. As far as billing goes, expect to be double charged every month. For example, after signing up for AutoPay in July, I paid my bill a few days early, only to have the same amount taken from my bank account again a few days later, overdrafting my account. In order to prevent this from happening again, I unenrolled from AutoPay and removed all of my bank account and credit card information. Yet, once again, one month later, the same thing happened. Avoid Georgia Power at all costs, if you can help it. And that’s not to mention all of the constant unexplained power outages.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I just moved into a 2,300 sq ft home serviced by Georgia Power, and my electricity bill has been nearly $800/month—for just two people living in the house. We already keep our thermostat at 76°F, we’re mindful of our usage, and we aren’t running anything excessive. When I called customer service for help, I was told the following: - I should keep my thermostat between 78–80°F at all times (in Georgia heat?!) - I need to unplug everything from the wall if it’s not in use (seriously?) -I should keep all the windows covered with blackout curtains during both summer and winter -And that I basically need to live in the dark to lower my bill Excuse me??? This is dystopian. I should not be expected to live like a vampire in a sweat lodge just to afford power in a home that isn't even that large. The fact that this is considered “normal” by Georgia Power is beyond concerning. Meanwhile, friends of mine in other parts of Georgia with bigger homes and dual AC units are paying less than half of what I am through co-ops or EMCs. Georgia Power has a monopoly on certain areas, and they are abusing it with out-of-touch rate hikes and gaslighting customer service. Completely broken system absolutely abusing their power and the residents.

Taking away our trees and our privacy that we have paid for over 35 years. They should be ashamed of their selves. They have more money than they need. They will keep taking and taking until there is no more trees for our oxygen, our planet, our wildlife and even our children's children. Enough is enough 😔. They are part of the reason our weather is so out of control especially with all the flooding in our neighborhoods. They don't care. This is a problem for our future! No power on Thanksgiving 2025 ! Do better
